Iron Crafters in the News

Seems like Craftgossip really liked our bag challenge. This weekend they featured this cute jack-o-lantern bag from Lauren over at Adventures of Lauren.

I’ve Been Chosen!

I’m so excited to tell you all that my Lullaby Pillowcase has been selected to be in the QR-3D Exhibit at Cornerstone in Manchester, UK as part of the Manchester Science Festival. It’s the first time I’ve had anything I’ve made displayed anywhere other than a knitting store.

The selection committee seemed to really appreciate the fact that the destination of the QR-code (Brahm’s Lullaby) made so much sense on a pillowcase. So if you are in Manchester between October 22nd and 30th, stop in and see it in person (and take a picture for me!).

Some of you may have seen the little gnome Christmas ornaments I made in the past for my Etsy store. Well, now you can get the pattern and make then yourself.

Crafters In the News

Our very own Kat Crafter was featured not once, but twice this week in CRAFT.
Her table runner was shown.

And some donuts that she whipped up in her kitchen.

Nicely done!
And, this is all the stuff she has done ‘in the mean time’. Those are not her Iron Craft projects. (She also had a parade of house guests through as well. Including a tired Mama and a sick toddler) Nothing is stopping this crafter!

Congratulations to Iron Crafter Claire from Poopscape who’s cute little felt houses from the Fat Quarter challenge were featured on Craft yesterday.
IC10: FAT Tuesday in the QUARTER
I’m not surprised as these are the cutest thing. I’m was so intrigued by them myself I went out & bought some fabric stiffer to try my own hand at them. I’m thinking of some embroidered ones for Halloween or Christmas.

Iron Craft at the Oscars! Really!

This week’s Iron Craft challenge was to create a project inspired by a movie. Well, who knew that one of our Iron Crafters, Angela at Ferntree Studios, would actually have her craft walk down the red carpet!

Angela was asked to create flowers from combat paper for Robynn Murray (subject) and Sara Nesson (filmmaker/director) of the Oscar nominated documentary Poster Girl.

Combat Paper is made from the uniforms of returning war veterans as a part of their therapy. Read all about it on Ferntree Studio.

Iron Crafters in The News

Congrats to Jeromina of Paper, Plate and Plane who’s heart lamp was featured today on Craft. (You’ll  remember her awesome Army Draft Dodger as well.)

She says the lamp was inspired by our first challenge, “I discovered the site last week, the day before the first deadline and scurried for the challenge: “Lighting the Winter Gloom”. I hit the clearance bins that Tuesday night for white Christmas lights and they were sold out. But I didn’t leave empty handed. I snagged red lights, despite that my shining idea is deferred to another time. I couldn’t submit — red lights weren’t going to work for me on Iron Craft, not with the unusual idea I had in mind. Instead, I crafted a Valentine’s-themed wall lamp and am heartily pleased with the outcome even with my lack of submission.”

And to toot my own horn, my Gnome & Mushroom Draft Dodger was featured on Craft yesterday.
